Tourism in Carnac, Megalithic sites and beautiful sandy beaches !

Listed as a historic monument, the megalithic site of Carnac, which is more than 7,000 years old, is one of the most famous in Europe and has always fascinated tourists coming from all over the world. No less than 3,000 menhirs line up over almost 4 kilometres! A true mystery. For more information, visit the Carnac Prehistoric Museum, which features a rich collection of Neolithic pieces.

But beside those megalithic sites, Carnac has a very rich history with a more recent heritage with its 17th century church, its small chapels as well as its sumptuous villas dating from the beginnings of seaside fashion.

Carnac is also a "bathing paradise" with its blond sand and clear waters, the five beaches of Carnac offer varied pleasures, from a simple nap under the sun to adrenaline-filled water activities. Carnac Grande Plage, the beach of Légenèse, Beaumer, Saint-Colomban or Ty Bihan are wonderful places where to spend a day.

How to talk about Carnac without talking about the Breton gastronomy? From the wild with prunes to amann kouign, buckwheat patties to fish rillettes, enjoy all the flavors of the sea… with salted butter obviously!

Finally, Carnac is also a great starting point to discover the beautiful region of Morbihan: the Gulf and its islands, the small typical villages of the coast, the beautiful town of Vannes, with its half-timbered houses, without forgetting, of course, the Quiberon Peninsula, starting point to visit other islands, such as Houat or Belle-Ile.
